Frequently Asked Questions

Do you make pickled melons or meloned pickles?

Unfortunately, we do not make either at this point in time. We specialise in making things out of wood, leather, resin, etc. But who knows, one day we might try it.

Why do you do this?

"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace." – 1 Peter 4:10

We believe that God has truly blessed us with a unique gift. As we grow in our relationship with Jesus, we become more deeply aware of and grateful for the talents He has entrusted to us. Experiencing even a glimpse of His humanity draws us closer to Him, and in response, we dedicate everything we create to His glory.

The gift of crafting brings us immense joy and fulfillment. Though it requires time and effort, the reward of seeing a finished piece makes it all worthwhile. Being able to share this passion with others is a true blessing, and we are grateful for the opportunity to do so.

Where can you ship?

For merchandise we will be able to ship almost anywhere in the world depending on the stock and where you are.

However, for the items that we make as projects, we primarily ship around New Zealand. Still, if you are from overseas and would like one of our items don't hesitate to contact us at info@melonpickle.com and let us know where you want to ship it and we will get back to you.

How long will it take to make the items I ordered?

Everything that we sell is made to order, so it will take slightly longer to make these items compared to mass produced items.

On the other hand, isn't it more special to know that your order is made especially for you.

After you have put in an order, you will recieve an e-mail after to give you an estimate of how long it will take to make your items. We will then send you follow-up e-mails to update you on what stage it is on whenever we can.

How long will shipping take?

In New Zealand, ideally it will take 2-3 working days from the moment of us handing the shipment over to the courier.

For overseas delivery, it can take from 2-3 days for neighbouring countries of NZ and up to 20 days for long distance countries.

If we become aware of any shipping delays we will let you know as soon as possible if it will impact your items.

Will you put a logo on my ordered item?

Yes we do. If you have any concerns regarding this please don't hesitate to bring it up with us. We will try and accommodate this.

Do you offer free delivery?

Unfortunately, we cannot offer free delivery.

However, depending on the item ordered, we can possibly personally deliver or organise a pick-up if you are in Wellington.

Can I change my order?

For Merchandise, you can change an order that has already been submitted unless it has the status of 'Being Fulfilled' (or any stage after that), Click the Change order button from your order view and edit the products and shipping options from there.

Note, that changing a product within an order (e.g. altering a product's variant, size, design file, or mockup) that has the 'Waiting for Fulfillment' status, or setting its status to On Hold, will reset the order deadline. This may result in a longer fulfillment time. However, changing a shipping address or rate will not reset the order deadline.

For all other items, we will be able to change it as long as the request is made within 24 hours of the order being submitted. Please contact us if it falls outside of the 24 hours and we will see what we can do.

Which companies do you use to deliver your items?

We normally use NZ Post or DHL.

We use NZ Post to ship items around New Zealand and for internatinal items we use DHL.

However, if there are unforseen circumstances and we need to use a different delivery service we will let you know.

What are your standard practices to be eco-friendly?

Sustainability is important to us. We try our best to be greener every step of the way. This is done through the following ways:

  • All our items are made to order - From merchandise to our leather wallets. We only make your items once you have confirmed your order. This would mean no over production, we reduce our uneccessary wastes and we reduce excess unwanted stock.
  • We use recycled and organic materials for our merchandise - Most of our merchandise are either recycled, can be recycled or are biodegradeable.
  • We use recycle materials for our projects - From recycled wood from old buldosed structures to leather offcuts. We try to find the hidden gems everywhere and try make it into something fun.
  • We look for ecofriendly and sustainable supplies/suppliers - There are some items that can't be found in the recyclers. So with each project we look for material that is balanced. Eco friendly and meets the purpose for the project.

As we know more we will do more.

What is taking my order so long?

All items are made to order. Please take note that this means that after you have submitted your order we will purchase materials and make everything individually. We have a 3d printer and laser cutter but other than that everything is made by hand.

We appreciate your patience.

What are your eco-friendly materials for your projects?

We use the following:

  • Recycled timber from recycle centres and private sellers. These items are normally procured from old structures that have been knocked down.
  • Leather scraps from fabric stores. These are normally best for small projects.
  • MDF is made up of mainly wood fibers, wood shavings and portions of wood that might normally be thrown away.
  • Bamboo Ply is made up of bamboo plants. They have a rapid growth rate and are quite easy to grow as it pretty much looks after itself.

What is your return policy?

We are happy to have a discussion if an item can be repaired, refunded or replaced if the item is faulty.

However, we cannot grant any returns or refunds if you have changed your mind with your purchase or if you have already put down a deposit on an agreed upon project.

Do you have a physical store?

We apologise for the inconvenience but we do not currently have a physical store.

Where did the name 'MelonPickle' come from?

During the first month of our relationship, Nicole had to go to the Philippines to visit family. Philippines has such delicious fruits and so she would have a lot of watermelon and rockmelon as they were very refreshing. Which helped a lot cause it was extremetly hot over there. And so Anthony started calling her 'melon'. However, Nicole didn't like that nickname so to tease him, she started calling Anthony 'Pickle'. She thought that he would hate that nickname but no. He liked it. And so as time passed the nicknames sounded more cute and endearing. That is where MelonPickle came from.

Is this your full-time job?

Nope. Anthony is a Web Developer and Nicole is a Quantity Surveyor.

Where are you from?

We live in Wellington, New Zealand.

What does 'perfectly imperfect' mean?

This means accepted and loved warts and all.

This is how we describe the things that we create. It might not be flawless or the most polished quality but it is usefull, beautiful and it is excellent. We are not machines. We incorporate a unique 'fingerprint' in everything we make.
