Puppy Wall Mounted Coat Rack

Puppy Wall Mounted Coat Rack

Throwback project to Christmas 2023. My brother and his partner adore their two precious pups. With their recent move into a new home, we wanted to gift them something both fun and practical for Christmas. That's when we thought a simple puppy-themed wall-mounted coat rack might come in handy. Ideal for their entranceway or bedroom, it's the perfect little item for their coats, jackets, and hats, ensuring they're always ready for their next adventure out the door.

Process:

  1. We picked out a nice piece of Rimu wood from our collection of recycled wood and cut it to size for the main part of the Coat Rack.
  2. We then used a router to chamfer all the edges of the wood so that we don't have any sharp edges.
  3. As this wood was recycled and the faces of the wood isn't as nice we sanded it to make it clean and for the faces to be flat.
  4. We then applied raw linseed oil as finish.
  5. Afterward, we used the laser cutter to precisely cut out the silhouettes of the puppies.

  6. Since the hooks were black, we decided to paint the dog silhouettes black as well to give the appearance of the hooks as tails.
  7. After allowing the paint and finish to dry completely, we simply screwed the hooks through the MDF dogs and into the Rimu Board.

On Christmas Eve, the anticipation of gift-giving filled our home with joy. As we watched my brother and his partner eagerly unwrap their present. Witnessing the sheer delight on their faces as they opened our carefully crafted gift filled our hearts with warmth.
