Charcuterie Board

Charcuterie Board

At every gathering we've attended, a charcuterie board always steals the spotlight. So, we decided to craft one as a special gift for my sister's family for Christmas, known for her culinary delights and warm hospitality. Adding a personal touch, we engraved a meaningful Bible passage, Proverbs 11:25, 'A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.'. Which we thought was reflecting their generous spirit and welcoming nature.

Process

  1. Cutting
From a beautiful panel of laminated Havea hardwood strips we cut the overall shape of the board.
  2. Drilling
Next, we carefully drilled holes at each end of the board, not just for a stylish touch, but also to provide convenient handles for easy carrying from either side.
  3. Chamfer
Using a flush chamfer bit in our trim router, we applied our signature asymmetrical chamfer to all edges and holes
  4. Sanding
All faces were then sanded down to 240 grit, had the grain raised with water, then re-sanded smooth to leave a finish that will endure being washed without becoming fuzzy.
  5. Etch
We then etched our logo on the base of the board, and an inspirational verse on the front to bless the shared meals that would be had using this gift.
  6. Finish
Finally we applied 3 coats of food safe raw linseed oil finish removing any excess and allowing to dry.

Reflecting on its exquisite beauty, we're inspired to make this board for others, allowing everyone to personalize and gift it just as we did.
